The rust under the patina, the ghost in the machine. The intangible perversion that lurks under marble facades. The scent of decay that seeps out of door frames. What does the view look like from a crumbling cliff? My work explores the dark matter depositing itself under “beautiful” surfaces, spaces, and people. The bittersweet state of suspension before loss, hardship, and tumult.

How do we steer our ships when storm clouds mount their assault on the horizon? Does the sea sparkle with the last rays of sun? Does it become leadened and dead? What shape does life take if we constantly fear loss? What can we conserve in a society marred by over-consumption and negligence? How does hyper-capitalism inject itself into our intimate spaces and relations? In such a world, can the luddites survive or do they drown trying?

My practice is a lifeboat inflated by personal commitment. A resolve to wade in the contradictions of my own life. A resolve to attune myself to a reality that seems to be losing its chords, its rhythm, and its melody. Exploring the porous and contested borderlines of our present day and age, my multi-medium practice hopes to ask the questions: What things are we losing? What can we bring to save us?
